1951    Born April 27, Shangjiang Village, Jiangxi Province.

1964    Attended the Art Group, sponsored by the municipal children's palace.

1966    Cultural Revolution began. Studied painting at home.

1967    Studied sketching and colour use under the guidance of Hong Shutong,
            his first tutor.

1968     Joined the army. Successively worked as a warehouse man,
            swine breeder and secretary.

1970     Demobilised in April. Began working in the Nanchang Postal
            Vehicle Factory, first as a warehouse man, then carpenter, pipe fitter
            and publicity department store employee. Tookpart in the gigantic
            painting of Chairman Mao at the city square.

1972     Involved in artistic activities organised by the city government.
            Works shown in municipal and provincial exhibitions.

1974     Enrolled in the Oil Painting Department at the
            Central Academy of  Fine Arts.

1975     Painted at Nankou Railway Locomotive Factory and at an army camp
            in Henan.

1977     Returned to the Central Academy as a tutor.

1978     Appointed to the faculty of the Oil Painting Department of the Central
            Academy of Fine Arts shortly after graduation in April.

1979     Transferred to teach in the Art Department at the
            Central Institute of Drama.

1980     Selected for the exhibition held by the Chinese Artist's Association at
            the China Art Gallery, Beijing.

1982     Painting Time was exhibited in an exhibition held by the Biejing
            Artist's Association.

1984    Painting Ancient Fortress was exhibited at the
            Sixth National Art Exhibition; further studied in the Oil Painting
            Workshop at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

1986     Painting Lama shown in the First National Oil Painting Exhibition
            sponsored by the Chinese Artist's Association, Beijing.

1988     Organised and exhibited paintings in The Ten-Men Art Show held at the
             Chinese Art Gallery, Beijing.

1990     Exhibited thirteen paintings in Works by Jiang Guo Fang
            and Li Yanzhou, an exhibition held in the
            Oriental Oil Painting Gallery, Beijing. Painting  Homeland
            received a prize in the International Art Exhibition
            by Young Artists, Muscat, Oman;

            Painting Ancient Pass shown in the First National Oil Landscapes
            Exhibition sponsored by the Chinese Artist's Association.

1991     Completed painting Memorial to the Throne as part of the
            Forbidden City Series;
            Work shown in the First Invitational Exhibition of Oils held in the
            Beijing International Art Gallery, under the
            sponsorship of the gallery's artistic foundation; painting Palace
            Entrance shown in the First Annual National Oil Painting Show,
            sponsored by the Chinese Artist's Association, Beijing.

1992     Painting Court Lady was exhibited in the
            First Chinese Oil Paintings Exhibitions, Hong Kong Convention and
            Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong; painting Homeland exhibited in
            Modern Chinese Master Work, Hong Kong; painting Lady was sold in
            Long Bao Zhai's auction, Hong Kong; began association with
            Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong.

1993     Painting Concubine exhibited in Inaugural Exhibition, Schoeni Art
            Gallery, Hong Kong; participated in Contemporaiy Chinese Oil Painting
            Exhibition, Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong; participated in
            Summer Oil Painting Show,
            Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong; organised
            the Exhibition of the Realism School, Chinese Art Gallery, Beijing;
            paintings Palace Entrance and Dream, exhibited by Schoeni Art
            Gallery at Tresor d'Art, World Trade Centre, Singapore; paintings
            Enchanted Evening and Little Emperor
            exhibited by Schoeni Art Gallery at Art Asia '93,
            Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre,
            Hong Kong.

1994     Painting Dawn in Images of Women, Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong;
            first one-man show in Hong Kong Jiang Guo Fang.
            The Forbidden City,  Schoeni Art Gallery,
            Hong Kong; Jiang Guo Fang: the Forbidden City published
            by Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong;
            painting Son of Heaven exhibited in Art Asia '94, Hong Kong
            Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong.

1995     Painting Meditation exhibited in Images of Women II,
            Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong;
            painting Yang Yang exhibited in Vision of China:
            Contemporary Paintings by Chinese Masters,
            Pacific City Club, Bangkok,
            Thailand; Contemporary Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition,
            from Realism to Post-Modernism,
